Nicole Harris has been an Independent Certified Instructor for the Baby Signs® Program since 2006. She began signing with her daughter, Rachel, after attending a Baby Signs® Parent Workshop in the Richmond area. As a former 1st grade teacher and Reading Specialist, she was thrilled to see the early literacy and language benefits that sign language can bring to babies. Her daughter quickly picked up signs and began using spoken words at an early age. After seeing the tremendous benefits that the Baby Signs® Program provided her family, as well as learning about the extensive research from the trusted founders, she was excited to begin teaching other parents and babies about the Baby Signs® Program.

Liz Pierson began as a Baby Signs® Instructor in 2007 with an incredible love for babies and an enthusiasm for sharing the Baby Signs® Program with others. She received her Masters of Elementary Education from Lehigh University, as well as her BA in Anthropology. She has been involved with teaching children in many ways, including as a first grade teacher for 4 years, an art teacher and researcher of Multicultural Education in Australia, a junior high school English teacher in Indonesia, a camp counselor, and a nanny/babysitter. After exploring many different beliefs and philosophies about raising children, Liz became aware of the Baby Signs® Program, and is continually amazed at the many ways it benefits families. She is looking forward to having children of her own in the near future, and can't wait to communicate with them using the Baby Signs® Program. For now, she is so excited to help parents, caregivers and babies learn all about how the Baby Sign® Program can to enrich their daily lives together.

Heather Carr has been an Independent Certified Instructor for the Baby Signs® Program since September, 2005. She became interested in the program after doing sign language with her son and seeing the benefits it brought. After seeing the Baby Signs® founders on the Today Show in 2002, she read their book and taught herself and her husband some signs. They picked a few to focus on and began doing them consistently with their son, starting when he was about 6 months old. After a month and a half, they got the result they were looking for: he signed "more" back to them when he wanted more food. After that first sign, the rest came rather quickly. By 13 months months he had a vocabulary of about 10 signs that he did daily and could pick up new ones very fast. He started talking not long after that, and has always had a large vocabulary for his age. After seeing that the Baby Signs® Institute was looking for instructors in the Richmond area, she signed on immediately. She finally found something she could do that she truly believed in because she had seen it work with her own son. Heather loves teaching others about the Baby Signs Programs and seeing the benefits signing brings to parents and babies.
